Hock Aun Teh was born of Chinese parents, trained at the Glasgow School of Art in the 1970s.
His art is a unique and totally original combination of the freedom of expression and brilliant colours of modern American Abstract Painting with the almost abstract but equally expressive black and white Calligraphy of Ancient China.
The result is an explosive release of energy, ranging in feeling from gentle mists rising at dawn to the fury at the heart of a storm. A whole world is encompassed here in brush-marks, space and colours.
All powerful works of art give you a kick on first sight, but few with more punch than the paintings of Hock Aun Teh.
